Purple Explorers

Room Managers
Jackie Sinclair & Natasha Gandy

Welcome To The Purple Explorers

In Purple Explorers, we are active learners. We learn about being sociable, being communicative and being independent through our carefully planned activities and key group times. The Purple Explorer Room can take up to 27 children aged 2-3 years old at any one time.

We have clearly identifiable zones that are under continuous provision and based around our children’s interests. The zones go alongside the planning and therefore often change with changes to planning to meet the children’s needs. Our daily, planned activities comprise a mixture of child-led and adult-led activities, whereby our Key People and Room Managers plan activities based on our children’s current interests, and then the children can decide how these activities continue.

Our main focuses are our children’s primary areas of personal, social and emotional development, communication, language and literacy and physical development. We encourage our children to be independent by washing hands, getting coats on, eating unaided, socialising and making relationships.

We have three qualified Key People who take their children out every day in small groups to do various activities based on their children’s individual needs, we find this benefits our children in many ways and allows for strong bonds to be formed.

In Purple Explorers, you will be offered two parents evenings per year to discuss your children’s development and progress, settling in the room and how they are making relationships with other children and staff. After Easter, we have various sessions for our Purple Explorer’s who are due to go to Pre-School in September to go over with their Key Person to prepare them for life as a Pre-Schooler. Transition meetings and Open Days are also offered to the parents to encourage active involvement in the transition from Purple Explorers to Pre-School.
